Defective verbs do not have a full range of conjugations and are only used in certain forms. A few examples of defective verbs are arsa (said), faod (may, might), feum (must), fidir (perceive, know), is (be), theab (almost) and trobhad (come).

"Òl do thì" arsa Mòrag. "Drink your tea," said Mòrag.
