Abbreviations and Variations


Some verb and pronouns combinations may be abbreviated for euphony or ease of pronunciation. You may see the pronoun vy (I/me) replaced by ma or a, the pronoun jy (you) replaced by ta and the pronoun ev or hi (he or she) replaced by va or a. Some abbreviations and variations you may come across are:

Using ma or a for vy (I):
ama or a'ma (I go) from a vy
oma or o'ma (I was) from o vy
ytha or yth'a (I went) from eth vy
gwrama or gwra'ma (I do) from gwrav vy
gwruga or gwrug'a(I did) from gwrug vy

Using ta for jy (you):
osta or os ta or o'ta (you are, short form) from os jy
esosta or esos ta or es'ta (you are, long form) from esos jy
es ta (you were, short form) from es jy
eses ta (you were, long form) from eses jy
e'ta (you go) from edh jy
beusta or beus ta(you were) from beus jy
